Licorice (Glycyrrhiza Glabra)

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza Glabra) – The roots of the licorice plant include compounds which have powerful moisturizing, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. In addition to treating conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, licorice root extracts can brighten the skin and prevent hyper-pigmentation. The licorice plant originates from the Middle East and Mediterranean regions, where its roots have been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years. Historical records indicate that it was used by ancient civilisations of Mesopotamia, Rome, Egypt, China and Greece, when it was favoured to heal wounds, skin diseases and to treat hair loss and ulcers.
